Q&A

Questions

Answers

Q1.What's new with HP CV SMB Reference Architecture for Citrix VDI-in-a-Box?
A1.With the addition of Citrix Personal vDisk, IT has fewer images to manage and users get self-selection of applications - both features bringing more flexibility and productivity to the solution.

With Personal vDisk and the addition of solid state drives, you gain 50% more users per server over the previous configuration.

The SMB reference architecture is developed and tested with the best-selling HP ProLiant DL380 Gen8 server and leading Citrix software to deliver a simple, cost-competitive SMB solution - developed to provide a simple, secure, consistent, reliable end-user experience.
Q2.The HP CV SMB Reference Architecture for Citrix VDI-in-a-Box is based on which products?
A2.- HP ProLiant DL380p Gen8 Server
- Citrix VDI-in-a-Box software
Q3.What is Citrix VDI-in-a-Box?
A3.Citrix VDI-in-a-Box delivers production-ready virtual desktops but does not require shared storage or high speed interconnects. Delivered as a single virtual appliance, it contains everything needed to create, provision, manage, and load balance virtual desktops. Supporting Microsoft’s Hyper-V, Citrix XenServer and VMware vSphere ESXi/ESX hypervisors, VDI-in-a-Box provides high availability by linking multiple servers together. VDI-in-a-Box manages all the connection brokering and load management across these servers, automatically handling failover in case of server failures.
Q4.What is the upgrade path if I want to support more clients’?
A4.The HP SMB Reference Architecture for Citrix VDI-in-a-Box takes the guesswork out of scaling your supported user base. HP and Citrix have tested the software and hardware together and determined the most optimal sizing and performance for a prescribed number of users. If you need to support more end-users, just add another server.
Q5.Do I get Citrix licenses with HP CV SMB reference architectures?
A5.No, this is not a solution with an orderable part number. You may purchase Citrix software through any authorized Citrix reseller.
Q6.What HP Thin Clients are best for client virtualization?
A6.For task workers or workers accessing top-security data (like government or financial services) or personal customer data, thin client computing is also an alternative to PC computing.

- Smart Zero Clients - Keeping it quick, simple, and flexible is the goal of HP Smart Zero Clients. No need to worry if the backend software changes. HP’s Smart Zero Clients operate like a zero client, but are intelligent enough to reconfigure themselves to Citrix, Microsoft®, or VMware protocols. Simply plug them in, turn them on, and they work.

- Flexible Thin Clients
HP understands that the key to growth is staying flexible and secure. HP Flexible Thin Clients provide options to grow and expand plus the security you need now and in the future - all with PC-like performance. Thin clients are secure by nature, but we made top-level security a priority. Our HP t610 meets National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) security recommendations.
Q7.What services does HP recommend for this reference architecture?
