The server supports DDR3 Load Reduced DIMMs (LRDIMMs) at 1.35V to 1333MHz and Registered DIMMs (RDIMMs) at 1.25V, 1.35V, or 1.5V up to 1600MHz.
Note that RDIMMs and LRDIMMs cannot be mixed.
With its 16 DIMM slots, the server can support up to a maximum of 512GB of memory.

Server drivers and firmware are preloaded on your ProLiant Gen8 Server in the embedded Intelligent Provisioning portion of iLO Management Engine.? The Intelligent Provisioning feature of your ProLiant Gen8 Server replaces the 2 SmartStart CDs that contained the ProLiant Support Packs (PSP) and the Firmware DVD. It is a single-server deployment tool embedded in all HP ProLiant Gen8 Servers. Use Intelligent Provisioning for the following:
- Installing Microsoft Windows, Red Hat and SUSE Linux, and VMware operating systems
- Performing maintenance-related tasks such as firmware updates, iLO configuration, and configuring Smart Array using ACU
To access Intelligent Provisioning, power up the HP ProLiant Gen8 Server and press the F10 key during system boot.
