Q&A

Questions

Answers

Q1.What are some of the features in the ProLiant DL120 G5?
A1.The new DL120 G5 is a low-cost, entry-level 1U rack server incorporating the latest technology enhancements:

-Support for Intel's next-generation Xeon 3300 processors
-Faster PC2-6400 DDR2 800MHz memory - up to 8GB
-New lower wattage (350W) power supply
-Support for LFF SATA and SAS hard disk drives
Q2.What is ECC memory?
A2.ECC memory, or Error checking and Correcting memory, helps protect your server from failure due to errors in the transfer of data to and from the memory. Unlike standard memory, ECC memory can actually detect and correct single-bit errors. With standard memory if even a single-bit memory error occurs, your server stops functioning.
Q3.Does the DL120 G5 support PCI-X cards?
A3.Yes. Although the standard configuration of the DL320 G5p includes 2 PCI-Express connectors, the optional PCI-X Riser option kit can be used to convert the full-length, full-height PCI-Express slot into a 64-bit, 133MHz PCI-X connector.
Q4.Does the DL120 G5 support hot-plug hard disk drives?
A4.No, the DL120 G5 does not support hot plug hard disk drives. Utilizing a non-hot plug solution helps HP to offer the highest value solution to SMB customers.

Note: If hot plug hard disk drives are desired, consider the ProLiant DL320 G5p.
Q5.Can the internal or front external USB ports on the DL320 G5p be used as a boot device or floppy replacement?
A5.Utilities are now available that allow the use of USB instead of floppy for a number of tasks, including system boot from USB drive key. For additional information, view the HP Drive Key Boot Utility whitepaper. (http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00218060/c00218060.pdf)
Q6.Does HP offer racking solutions for the ProLiant DL120 G5 in Telco and third -party racks?
A6.Yes, the ProLiant DL120 G5 Fixed Mounting Rails support racks with square or round mounting holes (including Compaq/HP 7000, 9000, 10000 and HP series), with an adjustment range of 24-inch - 36-inch. Installation into Telco racks requires a 3rd party option kit. (http://www.racksolutions.com/hp/)
Q7.What is the warranty on this product?
A7.The DL120 G5 offers a World-wide Limited warranty that includes 1 year parts, 1 year labor, and 1 year on-site support. A variety of upgrades are available through HP Care Packs.(3/1/1 offered in AP)
Q8.What Service offerings are recommended?
A8.HP recommends customers purchase for deployment, HP Care Pack hardware installation and same day 13×5 hardware support combined with software technical support for operating system and management software. This combination provides ready access to technical expertise, will help minimize downtime, and enable customers to focus on their core business.
