Manageability

The EML library has been designed to ease the management burdens of data protection in your SAN. HP Command View for Tape Libraries Software provides remote management, diagnostics and configuration of all your HP EML Tape Libraries from across the room or across the globe.

TapeAssure makes managing, optimizing & archiving on the HP Enterprise libraries faster and easier. It provides comprehensive summaries & detailed information about the status, performance, utilization, & health of all tape drives & media. This data can be exported on demand or at scheduled times.

Simplify managing complex environments with library partitioning. HP Secure Manager Tape Library Software allows the user to logically divide the library into up to six virtual tape libraries. This function is especially useful when multiple SANs or backup software packages are present.

HP Extended Tape Library Architecture (ETLA) simplifies the installation and integration of the library into the SAN. ETLA-based libraries are self-aware, self-managed, and automatically maintained, to simplify monitoring and maintenance.
Scalability

The EML delivers flexible scalability from 71 to 505 slots for consolidating environments needing up to 1515 TB compressed (2:1) storage capacity. The number of drives and slots may be increased by the purchase of expansion modules bringing the library to 8 drives and 505 slots for maximum capacity.

The EML tape library has the ability to grow compressed (2:1) throughput performance up to 16.1 TB/hr. The number of drives and slots may be increased by the purchase of expansion modules bringing the library to 16 drives and 442 slots for maximum performance.

The EML tape library provides flexible racking alternatives. Choose between rack-ready configurations that can be installed at the customer site or HP factory-racked configurations that minimize installation time.

Reliability

The EML delivers superior data availability with protection against SAN event disruptions using ETLA. ETLA provides improved backup and restore reliability by intercepting rogue I/O requests from applications or new servers and prevents those requests from interrupting backup or recovery processes.
