Overview

Portable Powerhouse. The HP EliteBook 8530w Mobile Workstation gives you the freedom to work beyond the confines of your desk by providing the portability of a 15.4-inch diagonal widescreen notebook with the power of a workstation.

Features

Featuring genuine Windows for a familiar and intuitive environment

Graphically speaking. Your choice of ATI or NVIDIA’s ISV-certified workstation graphics with up to 512 GB of VRAM. Both solutions support OpenGL, DirectX-10, Dual Link DVI (through optional dock) and include HP Performance Tuning Framework (PTF).

Operating System: Genuine Windows Vista® Business 32-bit; Genuine Windows Vista® Business 64-bit; Genuine Windows Vista® Home Basic; Genuine Windows Vista® Business with downgrade to Windows XP Professional custom installed 1; FreeDOS.

Multiple cores. Extreme performance. Enjoy new levels of performance and multi-tasking with Intel® Core™2 Extreme and Quad-Core processors 2 capable of working in a true 64-bit computing environment and support for up to 8 GB of memory 3.

Experience life in high-definition. Connect to high-resolution displays with the HDMI port 4. Blu-ray Drive 5 plays HD content or stores up to 50GB on a dual-layer disc. The eSATA port provides a fast connection to an external storage device.

Upgrade Bay with Dual HDD Support. Easily replace your optical with an optional secondary SATA II hard drive or upgrade to the next-generation optical drive. Having a second hard drive installed allows RAID 1 Mirroring or RAID 0 Striping [6].

1 Windows Vista Business disk may be included for future upgrade if desired. To qualify for this downgrade an end user must be a business (including governmental or educational institution) and is expected to order annually at least 25 customer systems with the same custom image
2 Dual/Quad Core is designed to improve performance of certain software products. Not all customers or software applications will necessarily benefit from use of this technology. 64-bit computing on Intel architecture requires a computer system with a processor, chipset, BIOS, operating system, device drivers and applications enabled for Intel® 64 architecture. Processors will not operate (including 32-bit operation) without an Intel 64 architecture-enabled BIOS. Performance will vary depending on your hardware and software configurations. This Notebook PC does not support the Intel Core 2 Extreme processor over-clocking feature
3 Maximum memory capacities assume 64-bit operating systems. Microsoft® Windows® XP (32-bit) supports 4GB (with Microsoft 32-bit, the amount of usable memory will be dependent upon your system configuration. It may be less than 4GB), 32-bit Linux can support up to 8GB
4 Cable sold separately
5 As Blu-Ray is a new format containing new technologies, certain disc, digital connection, compatibility and/or performance issues may arise and do not constitute defects in the product. Flawless playback on all systems is not guaranteed. In order for some Blu-ray titles to play, they may require a DVI or HDMI digital connection and your display may require HDCP support. This Blu-ray drive does not support writing to ultra-high speed CDRW media (16X to 32X advertised performance). HD-DVD movies cannot be played on this Notebook PC
[6] For RAID configurations, both hard drive capacities must be equal. If the drives are configured as RAID 0 Striping, then the user can no longer swap
