The new HP StorageWorks 4/256 SAN Director and the HP StorageWorks 4/256 SAN Director Power Pack provide high availability and high performance features required in mission critical Data centre SAN implementations. With up to 384 ports of connectivity in a single domain, the 4/256 SAN director offers flexible scalability for large core-to-edge SAN architectures. The 4/256 SAN Director hardware and software architectures support “five nines” availability with hot-swappable and redundant central processors. Reliability and availability features ensure non disruption when upgrading hardware and software. The 4/256 SAN Director is 1, 2, or 4Gb/s auto-sensing capable and protects customer investment by being fully backward compatible with the entire B-series family of fabric switches and director switches. The Power Pack software provides the SAN administrator with the necessary tools to monitor the health and performance of the network through a single pane of glass.
Features
Up to 384 ports: With more than twice the port density of previous B-series directors, the 4/256 delivers more efficient use of expensive data centre floor space.
4Gb/s performance: supports 4Gb/s end to end storage direction
Ports on demand, pay as you grow: ability to add more ports when needed, pay for connectivity you use
High performance interconnect: Advanced architecture with intelligent routing and faster fabric services for higher performance to handle the most demanding applications.
Ability to create a secure infrastructure: Multi-protocol and LUN-level zoning features. Full support for optional Secure Fabric OS
Flexible management tools to manage large SANs : Multi-switch fabric tools for easy configuration and monitoring, convenient power pack options
ISL Trunking and Advanced Performance Monitoring: Ability to create 32-port trunks to efficiently utilize inter switch links to prevent fabric bottlenecks.
16,32,48 Fibre Chan. 4Gb,MP Router, or iSCSI blade: Flexible options in which to scale the size of a SAN performance or density with Fibre Channel, iSCSI, and/or FCIP intermix support.
Investment protection: Fully compatible with and sharing a common code base with existing B-series switches
