The HP StorageWorks MPX200 Multifunction Router extends the FC SAN investment with integrated multi-protocol support, allowing customers to incorporate iSCSI servers without requiring additional storage arrays or management costs. The MPX200 offers simultaneous iSCSI and Fibre Channel support with 10GbE, 1GbE and 8Gb/s FC technology, providing modular multi-protocol SAN designs with increased scalability, stability, ROI and simpler to manage, secure storage solution for virtualized server environments. MPX 200’s enterprise-class high-availability design provides dual hot-plug power supplies and router blades for no single point of failure. MPX200 integrated in same rack allows customers to connect up to 4 EVA to a single MPX200 reducing the complexity and cost of iSCSI connectivity to EVA storage arrays.

Fast and easy Virtual Machines deployment: The MPX200 allows easy deployment of virtual machines. By supporting 300-600 iSCSI initiator connections to the EVA, each virtual server can secure and manage its own LUNs. This ensures that existing storage management software and policies can be seamlessly maintained throughout the VM deployment.

Enables increase in storage consolidation: The MPX200 enables simultaneous FC and iSCSI connectivity to the EVA resulting in increased storage consolidation and utilization. Using MPX200, hundreds of virtual or physical servers can be connected to the EVA enabling simple, secure and cost-effective storage consolidation and server deployment.

Cost Effective Solution: Up to four EVA arrays can be connected through a single MPX200 router. Servers can connect to these EVA’s using freely available iSCSI initiators and leveraging existing Ethernet networks to deliver SAN-like benefits, and to attach servers to an EVA FC SAN for about $37/server.

Seamless environment: MPX200 is fully integrated with Command View EVA software to manage both iSCSI and Fibre Channel EVA connectivity and MPX200 Multifunction Router. Additionally, MPX200 is an integrated hardware unit racked within an EVA.

Dual redundant blades: All MPX200 configuration information is mirrored between the dual blades and the unique addressing information is stored in the chassis (Mac address, WWN, etc.). This provides for seamless blade replacement without the need to update zoning or configuration specific files.
