While there are a wide range of encryption solutions available, the HP StorageWorks 1/8 G2 & MSL LTO-4 Encryption Kit is intended to be an easy and affordable library-enabled solution for small businesses.

One encryption kit is needed per library and includes two USB key server tokens. The key server token uses the USB port in the library and will generate and maintain encryption keys for the LTO-4 drives/libraries. The keys are transferred securely token-to-token for backup or export, with no exposure to insecure PCs, servers, or networks. Leverage the investment in your MSL tape library to increase both capacity and performance as data needs change. The HP StorageWorks MSL Library Extender Kit can be used to connect two MSL libraries to create one larger, virtual library. The stacked libraries appear to the host as a single library. The Extender Kit can be used with MSL2024, MSL4048, or MSL8096 libraries and is compatible with both new and currently installed libraries. The Extender Kit is customer installable in under 60 minutes.

The MSL Library Extender occupies the lowest half-height drive bay in the top library and the upper half-height drive bay of the lower library. No additional external power or communication cabling is necessary. The upper Library (MSL4048 or MSL8096) controls the extended library.
