The HP ProLiant DL165 G5p server uses PC2-5300 Double Data Rate II (DDR2) SDRAM running at 667MHz with Advanced ECC functionality or PC2-6400 Double Data Rate II (DDR2) SDRAM running at 800MHz with Advanced ECC functionality. DDR2 SDRAM is a next-generation SDRAM technology. SDRAM data is transferred on the rising edge of every clock cycle with each DIMM. The memory chip on DDR DIMMs performs transactions on both the rising and falling edges of the clock cycle, effectively doubling memory bus clock rate yields. |

USB 2.0 offers a fast interface for low speed peripheral devices, including storage devices. USB drive keys support large data capacities. Available capacities on USB disk keys can support anywhere from 16 to 300 times more capacity than a 1.44 MB floppy disk.

AMD's PowerNow! is an ACPI-based OS demand-based switching technology that allows the processors to run dynamically at different frequencies and voltages depending upon CPU computing demand. Therefore, PowerNow! enables lower server power consumption without compromises in performance. AMD PowerNow! Technology enables the CPU to:
- Run at multiple performance states (frequency and voltage combinations)
- Switch among multiple performance states (controlled by software), without having to reset CPU or change FSB frequency

What types of applications see the most performance benefit from AMD Opteron technology? |

Applications that require high bandwidth and low latency access to system memory benefit from AMD Opteron technology, especially true for high performance cluster computing but also applicable to a large number of commercial applications as well.
HP expects 2-way and 4-way platforms based upon AMD Opteron technology will provide more system memory bandwidth at lower latencies than current x86 based platforms. Also, AMD Opteron technology allows memory and I/O resources to scale with additional processing power providing increased levels of system resources as computing needs increase. Combining resource scaling with AMD Opteron's HyperTransport technology allows for those system resources to be shared effectively across all processing units benefiting many multi-threaded applications and provides for high levels of scalability from UP to DP to 4-way processing.

Additionally, customers who need to run existing 32-bit applications along with 64-bit applications can benefit from the simultaneous 32-bit and 64-bit computing capabilities of AMD Opteron technology. In those environments, 32-bit application performance is not compromised. Also, applications that need large memory addressing such as those with large datasets (financial and scientific modeling applications) or must manage a large number of concurrent users or application threads such as large databases and data warehouse applications for solutions in customer relationship management (CRM), supply chain management (SCM), enterprise resource planning (ERP), and digital rights management (DRM) systems can benefit from AMD Opteron's ability to access up to 256 Terabytes of memory address space.
