The HP Reference Information Manager (RIM) for Domino is an Email archiving application that reduces the cost of Email storage and helps enterprises address compliance requirements. Enterprises are struggling to cope with explosive Email growth – the challenge is to maintain service levels while containing the storage and management costs of Email. The problem has grown as many organizations are now subject to some form of data retention requirement – whether from government regulation, or, from internal corporate governance rules. Active-Archiving for Email Applications: Automated archiving of users’ mailboxes without end-user disruption or interaction. IT gains control over which messages are held - and where. This leads to dramatic cost reduction by moving older, static messages to lower cost archive storage. It also leads to improved mail server performance and reduced backup times.

Selective Archiving Mode: IT sets policies for archiving messages out of users’ mailboxes and moving them to a lower cost storage archive (HP Reference Information Storage System). This minimizes or eliminates the requirement for IT to set mailbox size limitations on users. Users do not waste time managing the size of their mailbox.

Compliance Archive Mode: Automatically captures ALL messages from a group of users. This can help companies comply with data retention regulations, such as SEC 17a-4 while also addressing internal corporate governance issues.

Application Integration: Integrates with Lotus Notes; Users can retrieve archived messages within Lotus Notes. Selectively archived messaged are marked with a special icon.

RIM for Domino is a “front-end” connector to the Reference Information Storage System: The RISS platform is a feature rich archiving platform. It provides de-duplication of messages, full-content indexing, date and time stamping, and is based on an Enterprise scalable grid architecture.
