Loading Paper

  • PrintPrint
This is the basic procedure for loading plain paper.
Figure 1: Remove output tray
Remove the output tray and slide the paper-width and paper-length guides to their outermost positions.
Figure 2: Insert paper
Tap the stack of paper on a flat surface to align the edges, and then slide it into the paper tray until it stops.
  • Make sure the paper is free of rips, dust, wrinkles, and curled or bent edges.
  • Make sure all the paper in the stack is the same size and type.
  • Make sure there is neither too much nor too little paper. There should be at least several sheets of paper, but the stack should not be thicker than the height of the paper guide.
  • If you are using letterhead, insert the top of the page first. If you want to print on a particular side of the paper, turn that side down.
Figure 3: Adjust guides
Slide the paper-width and paper-length guides in until they stop at the edges of the paper. Make sure that the paper stack lies flat in the paper tray.
Figure 4: Replace output tray
Replace the output tray.
Figure 5: Extend output tray
To keep printed paper from falling off the tray, fully extend the output tray extender.
If you have changed paper type or size, adjust the paper settings. Click here to see how.
